Our Purpose

Is to make Aotearoa New Zealand a more just, equitable and aspirational place, by:

1. Fostering belonging in Aotearoa New Zealand: through strengthening our relationships with and upholding our obligations to these lands, its first peoples (tangata whenua), Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa (the Pacific).  

2. Navigating and exploring Asian identities: with a focus on Aotearoa New Zealand’s legal system, and the changing values and demographics of the peoples it serves.  

3. Furthering the ends of justice: through a Tiriti o Waitangi lens, centring Asian communities and their legal issues and providing a channel/platform through which to advocate for their voices.  This is to ensure that substantive laws, legal processes and legal outcomes in Aotearoa New Zealand truly uphold the rule of law and improve access to justice for Asian communities.
